Do you have a Colman’s classic in your collection? Will your mustard pot be worth a pretty price? The valuation team from TW Gaze Diss Auction Rooms will be on hand - you’ll have the opportunity for valuations of your Colman’s collection, and will discover the history behind your items.
Colman’s have been making fine quality mustards in Norfolk for 200 years, and to celebrate this, Colman’s Mustard Shop & Museum are running a series of special events to mark the occasion, including the My Colman’s Antiques Day, competitions, special offers and even a murder mystery event!
Elizabeth Talbot, Senior Auctioneer and Valuer, TW Gaze, said: “My team from TW Gaze and I were delighted to be invited to help celebrate what must be Norwich’s most notable anniversary of 2014. A double century is to be lauded at the best of times, but 200 years of Colman’s in the city is truly special. The iconic brand has touched generations of local people in different ways and we are hoping the “My Colman’s” day will provide an opportunity for Colman’s artefacts to be appreciated and memories shared.”
“Colman’s has invested in clever and creative marketing throughout the firm’s history, especially during the 19th Century, and the diversity of its distinctive advertising wares never ceases to amaze… from modest Victorian pencil sharpeners and a myriad of packaging to fine shop fitments, enamelled signs and specially commissioned limited edition stoneware pieces by the likes of Doulton. We are keeping an open mind as to what will be brought along, but inevitably there will be a surprise or two, and we shall be excited by it all!”
The free event, open to all, will be held at The Guildhall between 10am-1pm on Saturday 7th June, and refreshments will be available from Caley’s Cocoa Café. Find out the latest 200 years commemorative events at www.mustardshopnorwich.co.uk
